Server & Networking Specialist
Position Description:
Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) is seeking a Server & Networking Specialist with wide-ranging skills in network management. The qualified individual will be able to assist with the day-to-day management of a complex 75+ Windows and Linux server infrastructure, as well as a 28 office MPLS WAN. This position reports to the Senior Network Manager and will be an integral member of the LISC Information Technology Unit located at the NYC headquarters.
Overall Responsibility:
The Server & Networking Specialist will be responsible for the building and troubleshooting of Windows 2008-based servers and applications; file server migrations and permissions; Active Directory and Group Policy administration; managing backup jobs; assisting with DR/BC testing; LAN and WAN switching and routing; server room asset tracking and documentation. Must have strong understanding of TCP/IP implementation including DNS, DHCP, NTP; expertise with server hardware and OS maintenance; able to respond to emergencies as needed and work effectively with end-users at remote offices.
Job Requirements and Skill Sets:
We are looking for a special blend of personal qualities - someone who is accomplishment and detail-oriented with customer-service skills, to be part of a team that is focused on providing first-class service and support. Must be able to take the initiative, use judgment, be creative and follow issues through to resolution.
Key technology vendor hardware and software deployed at LISC includes:
• Windows Server 2003/2008 Administration
• VMWare VSphere 4.0 and ESX Server
• SUSE Linux
• Citrix XenApp 4.5
• EMC Celerra and Clariion storage
• Cisco firewalls and network devices
• Symantec EndPoint Protection and Backup Exec
SQL Server and scripting experience a plus.
Knowledge of e-mail, smartphone technologies and Enterprise level tools and deployments desired.
Degree in Computer Sciences preferred.
